ReSource Denmark is pleased to announce the appointment of its first employee, Factory Director Lars H. Kristensen. He joins from Fortum Waste Solutions A/S and brings with him many years of industry experience within flexible packaging and waste treatment.

"I am really excited to welcome Lars to ReSource Denmark. His extensive experience in plastics and operations management, combined with strong leadership skills and an engineering background, is a perfect fit for the role of Plant Director," says Terje U. Eiken, Chairman of ReSource's Board of Directors.

"I am very excited to join ReSource and work towards solving one of the biggest environmental challenges - plastic waste. Denmark needs a large-scale plastic sorting facility to reach its plastic recycling goals, and ReSource, with its state-of-the-art facilities and service-oriented approach, will be a major contributor. I am really looking forward to building a team of dedicated and skilled employees in Esbjerg who are passionate about making a difference for the environment," says Lars H. Kristensen.

Lars H. Kristensen, a chemical engineer, currently holds the position of Operations Director in Denmark for Fortum Waste Solutions A/S and will assume his new role as Plant Director for ReSource Denmark next month, on April 1, 2023.

Construction of ReSource's sorting facility is well underway, with commissioning expected towards the end of 2023. The facility is expected to be commercially operational in the first quarter of 2024. Once operational, the facility will have the capacity to sort up to 160,000 tons of mixed plastic waste annually and employ nearly 50 full-time employees.

"The appointment of Lars is the first of many to come. In the coming months, we will be working on recruitment and training, raw material and product agreements, and building the systems needed to operate a large facility," says Martin Sichelkow, Vice Chairman of the Board.

ReSource will consist of a state-of-the-art high-tech sorting system that separates the plastic waste into mono-fractions suitable for all types of recycling facilities, including mechanical and chemical recycling, to achieve the highest possible recycling rates. At the same time, ReSource will ensure traceability of all waste received and processed, which will be crucial for key players in the industry going forward.
